Mississippi Divorce and Family Law Services
My divorce services include divorce settlements, mediation and litigation. I strive to understand my clients particular situations and help them choose the most advisable option for them.
I provide a wide range of options in divorce and family law cases:
- Marital property division - If you are unable to agree on property division, the marital property will be divided "equitably." Generally, marital property is any property that was acquired during the marriage and can include your home, cars, and other valuables as well as pension plans, QDROs, military pensions, 401(K) plans, CDs, IRAs, stocks, benefits and other assets.
- Child custody and visitation - I represent parents during the divorce process, as well as those who are involved in disputes about the custody and care of their children. When one parent has moved to another state, I can help resolve issues involving the Uniform Child-Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA).
- Child support - During divorce, I can help parents understand what to expect from child support payments, which are based upon statutory guidelines. I also help clients in child support modification and enforcement. Child support issues can also involve emancipation judgments, which are orders that declare a child emancipated and child support ended.
- Spousal support - In appropriate situations, spousal support ("alimony") can be awarded on a temporary or permanent basis.
- Prenuptial agreements and post-nuptial agreements - These agreements can protect your property and assets for children from previous relationships and provide directives in the event of a divorce.
- Adoption - I offer adoption services that include infant adoption, adoption of family members, and step-parent adoption.
- Guardianships and conservatorships for minor children and the elderly.
